FNBC awards 2025 Boyd & Maxine Carpenter Scholarship

 In General

Alan Price, FNBC Community President for Sharp County, presents the Boyd & Maxine Carpenter Scholarship to Taci Humphries, a 2025 graduate of Highland High School.

Taci Humphries, a 2025 graduate of Highland High School, has been selected as the recipient of the Boyd & Maxine Carpenter Scholarship, awarded annually by FNBC Bank. This is the 41st year for the $4,000 scholarship.

Humphries completed her high school career with a 4.10 GPA and plans to attend Arkansas State University in Jonesboro this fall to study Animal Science with a Pre-Vet focus. Working on her family’s cattle farm has instilled in her a passion for helping animals and inspired her to pursue a career as a large animal veterinarian.

A well-rounded student, Humphries held numerous leadership roles throughout her high school career. She served as President of the Class of 2025, President of the National Honor Society, and held leadership positions in Student Council and Future Farmers of America (FFA). She was also active in BETA Club, Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) and Fellowship of Christian Students.

Her list of accolades is equally impressive. Humphries placed first in the state and seventh internationally in HOSA Veterinary Science. She was also a National Silver Medal Finalist in FFA Prepared Public Speaking after earning first place in Sub-Area, District and State competitions. Additionally, she earned top honors in 4-H Prepared Public Speaking and placed in the Top 10 in the state twice for FFA Veterinary Science CDE. She also received academic awards in U.S. History and Veterinary Science.

Beyond the classroom, Humphries has shown a strong commitment to her community. She volunteered with Junior Fair Board, FFA Highway Clean-Up and the Cherokee Village Animal Shelter. She also chaired the Highland Agriculture Fair Committee and is currently employed as a dog groomer at Cedar Creek Veterinary Clinic.

An outside committee representing each eligible county was selected to review all applicants and conduct interviews with their top candidates.

Established in 1984, the Boyd & Maxine Carpenter Scholarship honors the legacy of the late-FNBC President and Chairman of the Board and his wife, who was also a long-time FNBC employee. The Carpenters were passionate advocates for education. Their son, Martin Carpenter, now serves as FNBC’s Chairman of the Board, and their granddaughter, Molly Day, is Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer.

The scholarship endowment fund is managed by the Arkansas Community Foundation.

Graduating seniors from Izard, Fulton and Sharp County are eligible to apply. Renewable for up to four years, the recipient must maintain a 2.5 GPA on a 4-point scale, or equivalent.
