Boyd & Maxine Carpenter Scholarship Committee Accepting Applications
For the 35th year, FNBC Bank will award a $4,000 scholarship to a graduating high school senior from Sharp, Izard or Fulton County who plans to attend college seeking a 4-year degree. This year, the scholarship has been renamed to include Boyd Carpenter’s wife and long-time FNBC employee, Maxine.
FNBC partners with the Arkansas Community Foundation to fund and administer the Boyd & Maxine Carpenter Scholarship.
Awarded in a two-phase process, the first phase places emphasis on academics, extracurricular activities and employment. The second phase is based upon the applicant’s interview with the judging committee. The scholarship will be awarded as $1,000 per year for four years for a total of $4,000.
Students interested in applying should visit www.arcf.org/scholarships to complete the online application. All applications are due by April 1, 2019.
This scholarship is renewable up to four years. To qualify, students must maintain a 2.5 GPA on a 4-point scale, or equivalent.
The FNBC Bank Board of Directors established this scholarship in 1984 to honor Boyd Carpenter, then-Chairman and President of the bank, who was a devoted advocate for education. Maxine retired from FNBC after serving almost 40 years. She served in several positions, including teller, bookkeeping supervisor, assistant cashier and Assistant Vice President over Operations.
Boyd & Maxine’s son, Martin, currently serves as Chairman, and their granddaughter, Molly, serves as Vice President of Marketing.
